Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters and act decisively to stabilize patients
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator adjustments and weaning support
• Deliver specialized post-CABG and high-acuity cardiac care with precision and compassion
• Provide advanced life support as needed (ACLS/BLS) and lead code responses confidently
• Collaborate with intensivists, cardiothoracic teams and multidisciplinary staff for optimal outcomes
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Meditech and participate in bedside shift report
• Support unit-level policies, patient safety initiatives, and a culture of respectful teamwork

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (CVICU experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CPR competence expected
• Proven experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG care
• Comfort working in very high-acuity environments (ECMO, heart transplant exposure is a plus)
• Meditech documentation experience preferred; strong teamwork and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals and advanced cardiac/ICU knowledge
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring, titration of vasoactive drips and cardiac post-op care
• Familiarity with ECMO fundamentals and CVICU workflows (preferred)
• Electronic charting proficiency (Meditech preferred)
• Excellent communication, clinical judgment and bedside teaching skills
