Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for medically complex patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry to detect changes early
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately following facility protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Perform thorough patient assessments, document findings clearly, and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, medications, and discharge plans to support recovery and continuity of care
• Respond to emergencies and escalate appropriately to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact eligible) — ability to obtain Texas licensure if required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or acute care nursing experience (as noted in the job posting)
• Current BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred or required per facility policy
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with telemetry monitoring and cardiac patients
• Ability to work independently during night shifts and collaborate effectively with the team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV therapy, medication administration and titration
• Patient assessment, early recognition of clinical deterioration, and escalation
• Charting and documentation in electronic medical records
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization during busy 12-hour shifts
