Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, typically three 12-hour shifts per week with every-other-weekend requirement (may float to PCU, 3rd floor, or ED)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care for ICU patients, including ventilator management and central line care
• Continuously monitor patients using telemetry and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Perform and assist with unit procedures such as therapeutic phlebotomy, BiPAP/CPAP management, and physician-led paracentesis
• Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient progress in Meditech Expanse
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and post-discharge needs with compassion
• Support unit staffing needs and participate in unit initiatives that promote patient safety and quality

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (compact license acceptable when indicated)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required)
• BLS and ACLS required; current NIH certification (annual) required
• Experience with ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, and central line care
• Comfortable with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound VACs, drains and blood transfusions (preferred)
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts and every-other-weekend schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management and critical care interventions
• Central line care and blood transfusion procedures
• Meditech Expanse documentation experience
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile and point-of-care glucometers
• CPAP/BiPAP management, therapeutic phlebotomy and basic bedside procedures
