Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for adults and geriatrics with burns and complex surgical needs
• Perform flap monitoring, burn dressings, and post-operative assessments to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Manage surgical drains, Wound VACs, and other specialty wound care interventions
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions or rapid response activation
• Administer and manage IV therapies including arterial, central, and PICC lines, blood product administration, and insulin drips
• Provide airway and oxygen support including non-invasive airway management and oxygen tank use
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, radiology) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document accurately in the required charting system and support smooth care transitions
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, wound management, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current Ohio RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years recent RN experience (required)
• BLS required; ACLS required
• Charting system competency (required)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• First-time travel nurses welcome — travel experience not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float within the OSU organization as needed

• Burn care and burn dressing management

• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration

• Isolation precautions/PPE and rapid response/code team activation
• Airway support, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
