Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; must be available for 2-3 day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) for orientation. Weekend requirement: work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (for nightshift weekends are Friday & Saturday). Holidays required. No set schedules; primary assignment is nights with occasional day-orientation shifts.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform remote surveillance of cardiac and cardio-pulmonary rhythms from a central monitoring station, keeping patient safety front and center
• Recognize, record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias promptly and accurately
• Follow established command center policies and clinical protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality responses
• Communicate significant changes clearly and professionally to local RN staff and escalate per protocol
• Monitor up to high patient ratios (up to 45-60 patients) using advanced IT and telemetry systems
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse, House Supervisor and Director to support unit metrics and patient outcomes
• Maintain meticulous documentation in Cerner and adhere to unit-specific charting standards

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited clinical program that includes EKG interpretation
• BLS certification required
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with one attempt)
• Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience preferred; will consider strong candidates with less experience
• Comfortable monitoring high patient ratios remotely and making timely, accurate assessments
• Available for 12-hour night shifts and 2-3 day shifts for orientation when required
• Willing to comply with facility policies (no secondary job while on assignment, strict no cell phone policy; hospital provides work phone)
• Ability to attend mandatory in-person orientation with GE team when scheduled

Education

• Graduation from an accredited clinical program that includes EKG interpretation (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• EKG interpretation and advanced dysrhythmia/cardiac rhythm recognition
• Telemetry and central/remote monitoring best practices
• Experience with Cerner and monitoring platforms (GE monitors, Ascom)
• Strong communication skills for notifying local RN staff and clear escalation
• Comfort with following clinical protocols and contributing to improved patient outcomes
• Adaptability to variable schedules and high-acuity remote monitoring environments
• Ability to cross-train to related roles like Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialist
