Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage patients entering the emergency care system and prioritize care based on physical and psycho-social needs
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Implement nursing interventions, monitor patient responses, and adjust the plan to achieve the best outcomes
• Manage emergencies and complications in accordance with Mount Nittany Medical Center policies and ENA standards
• Document in-depth nursing histories and maintain accurate, current nursing documentation
• Provide patient and family education, including clear discharge teaching and follow-up information
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ready and functioning for safe, efficient emergency care
• Participate in hourly rounding in the department and half-hour waiting room checks when patients are waiting

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure (required)
• American Heart Association BLS certification (current)
• American Heart Association ACLS certification (current)
• American Heart Association PALS certification (current)
• Valid NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Familiarity with Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards
• Comfort working across the lifespan from neonate through geriatric patients
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Nursing and Triage
• Patient Assessment and Plan of Care Development
• Nursing Documentation and Charting (EPIC preferred)
• Patient Education and Discharge Planning
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NIHSS competency
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients and act quickly under pressure
• Familiarity with ENA standards and emergency department workflows
