Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and continuously monitor hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients on the Progressive Care Unit, using expert clinical judgment to spot changes early
Provide direct, compassionate care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning and patient/family education
Manage complex devices and invasive lines—arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, multiple IV pumps, and nasogastric/continuous bladder irrigation
Deliver ventilatory support (both invasive and non-invasive) and manage patients on short-term ventilation
Interpret telemetry and EKGs to guide timely interventions and escalate concerns to the care team
Coordinate care with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes
Act as a clinical leader—precept new staff, mentor colleagues, and contribute to unit-based practice improvements
Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly to support continuity of care

Qualifications

Current State of Montana RN licensure (required)
BLS, ACLS, PALS required (PALS may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Practice experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit plus recent Progressive Care or Critical Care experience (required)
EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Demonstrated ability to operate advanced medical equipment and manage invasive monitoring (A-lines, central lines, chest tubes)
Strong clinical leadership, communication, and teamwork skills

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and hemodynamic monitoring
Medication administration and IV pump management
Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Care coordination and discharge planning
Ventilator support—both invasive and non-invasive
Clinical leadership and precepting experience
