Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts. Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. No set schedules; weekends and holidays required (must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule). Night hires should be available for 2-3 days of day shift for orientation.

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform continuous remote surveillance of cardiac rhythms from a central monitoring station
• Recognize, document and report dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established protocols
• Notify local RN staff and follow communication/notification procedures for routine and emergency situations
• Operate and monitor GE and Ascom equipment and maintain accurate electronic charting in Cerner
• Contribute to improved patient outcomes and department metrics through careful monitoring and escalation
• Cross-train into Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialist roles when opportunities arise

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG Interpretation
• BLS Certification required
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting the assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with one attempt)
• Minimum 2 years recent related work experience preferred (3 years preferred); strong candidates with slightly less experience may be considered
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, remote/virtual monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Ability to follow strict policies (no personal cell phones while on assignment) and work exclusively on this assignment during the contract

Education

• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG Interpretation (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• EKG interpretation and advanced dysrhythmia recognition
• Telemetry monitoring and remote patient monitoring workflows
• Central monitoring station operations and alarm/notification protocols
• Familiarity with GE and Ascom monitoring equipment
• Charting and documentation in Cerner
• Clear communication with bedside staff, charge nurses and supervisors
