Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, applying therapeutic procedures to restore strength, range of motion, coordination, mobility, and body alignment.
Deliver therapeutic modalities and use assistive devices to reduce pain and improve functional movement.
Implement treatment plans as directed by the supervising PT and document patient progress accurately and timely.
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and safe use of adaptive equipment while promoting independence.
Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team and the supervising PT to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Maintain compliance with the California State Practice Act and facility policies while safeguarding patient confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications

Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Valid California Physical Therapist Assistant license (LPTA) required.
Ability to perform direct patient care interventions under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist.
Knowledge of and adherence to the State Practice Act governing PTA practice.

Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Knowledge & Skills

Physical therapy techniques for muscle strengthening and range of motion
Therapeutic procedures and therapeutic modalities
Use of assistive devices and mobility training
Pain management strategies and body alignment facilitation
Direct patient care, documentation, and clinical communication
Understanding of State Practice Act compliance and working under PT supervision
