Shift Type: Rotating shifts including days and nights. Primary schedule M-F 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (32 hours/week guaranteed) with call 3:15 PM - 6:45 AM 1-2 times per week; occasional M-F 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM; occasional Sat/Sun 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM. Weekend rotation approximately every 3-4 weeks; must be willing to work holidays and respond to call within 15 minutes. (Rotating)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in a wide range of surgical cases including orthopedics, neuro, general surgery, gynecology and urology
• Provide robotic surgery assistance using systems such as DaVinci Xi and ION, ensuring safe setup and instrument exchange
• Maintain strict sterile technique and prepare operating rooms for a high-volume schedule of 25-30 cases daily in some specialties
• Prepare and manage instrumentation for open abdominal (open belly) and endoscopy/ GI scope procedures
• Float and cross-train to support second-scrub duties across specialties, and serve as a 1:1 sitter on the floor when needed
• Respond to call within 15 minutes, follow call reprieve rules and use available sleep room resources responsibly
• Document care and case details accurately in EPIC and follow department orientation and buddy-shift protocols
• Collaborate with charge nurse, clinical supervisor and the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent perioperative care

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or NCCT required
• BLS certification required
• ND UAP credential required (or current North Dakota UAP authorization)
• Minimum 1 year of OR experience — must have either Ortho/Neuro OR General/Robotics experience
• Experience with open abdominal cases, DaVinci Xi and endoscopy/scope experience preferred (refreshers acceptable)
• Willingness to float, pick up 1:1 sitter duties, work holidays and participate in weekend and call rotations
• Able to meet RTO requirement up front (7 days or less per 13-week contract) and clear profile review + manager interview

Education

• CST or NCCT certification (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ND UAP credential (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with sterile technique and perioperative instrumentation
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with DaVinci Xi, ION robotic systems and Stryker towers
• Endoscopy/GI scope handling and setup (scope experience or willingness to refresher train)
• Comfort with pediatric through geriatric cases and a variety of surgical specialties
• EPIC charting familiarity for perioperative documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication and rapid response skills for on-call scenarios
