Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the operating room to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are ready for procedures
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative team members to coordinate care
• Document patient status and perioperative events accurately using Cerner
• Assist with a wide variety of surgical service lines, including general, GYN, robotics, neuro, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn and trauma
• Respond to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency and trauma case management
• Support unit staffing needs by floating to other departments when required

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2+ years of perioperative or operating room nursing experience
• Broad surgical knowledge across service lines noted above
• Experience using Cerner for documentation
• Comfort with variable schedules, on-call responsibilities and occasional floating

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and operating room procedures
• Broad surgical knowledge: general, GYN, robotics, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn and trauma
• Proficiency with Cerner documentation system
• Strong teamwork, communication and situational awareness in high-acuity settings
• Ability to maintain sterile technique and support complex surgical workflows
