Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care
• Directly evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with hands-on therapy and evidence-based interventions
• Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians, promoting professional growth
• Lead clinical education and competency initiatives to keep the team current and confident
• Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state and professional standards and coordinate audits or corrective actions as needed
• Contribute to program development and administrative tasks (about 20% of time) to improve services and patient outcomes
• Champion clear, accurate documentation practices and foster collaborative relationships across departments

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) — required
• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of California (Board of Medical Quality Assurance or applicable board) — required
• Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation staff with demonstrated clinical leadership
• Solid knowledge of state practice acts, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with policy/procedure development
• AOTA membership preferred
• Ability to balance clinical caseload and administrative leadership with excellent communication skills

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
