Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional critical care to ICU patients, including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Deliver post-CABG and cardiac post-op care with attention to detail and patient safety
• Manage high-acuity patients including ECMO and heart transplant cases when required
• Perform accurate and timely documentation in Meditech and maintain bedside shift report with whiteboard updates
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapy and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Respond to code situations and perform CPR/BLS/ACLS interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition, plan of care and recovery expectations
• Maintain unit standards, professional conduct and a culture of respect — rudeness is not tolerated

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (CVICU experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Demonstrated experience with ventilated patients and hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience with post-CABG/cardiac surgical care strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity environment (ECMO, heart transplant exposure a plus)
• Ability to document accurately in Meditech preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU best practices
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and CVICU workflows
• CPR, ACLS protocols and emergency response
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Exposure to ECMO, heart transplant processes and daVinci robotic surgery environment
