Shift Type: Rotating evenings, 8-hour shifts; start times vary between 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM (examples: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM); includes weekend coverage

Candidate Pay Rate: $84 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care through accurate order entry and verification to keep medication use safe and effective
- Perform medication checking and dispensing with attention to detail and safety best practices
- Support inpatient pharmacy functions across diverse patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Rotate into ambulatory roles as assigned, such as anticoagulation clinic services or oncology, to extend patient care beyond the floor
- Collaborate daily with pharmacists, technicians, nurses, providers and other team members to optimize therapy
- Ensure compliance with current state and federal pharmacy laws and institutional policies
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and providers to improve medication outcomes and patient satisfaction
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
- Current license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy, or eligible for reciprocity in Pennsylvania within 90 days of hire
- Recent hospital pharmacy experience preferred to hit the ground running in an inpatient setting
- Pharmacy residency preferred if rotating to ambulatory roles like anticoagulation clinic
- Advanced practice certifications preferred for specialized ambulatory duties
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for some ambulatory rotations; renew every two years
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (required)
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
- Proven skills in order entry, verification, medication checking and dispensing
- Clinical pharmacy and ambulatory pharmacy experience and judgment
- Ability to interact positively with pharmacy staff, providers, nurses and medical representatives
- Comfort working with a variety of patient populations, from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Attention to medication safety, accuracy and documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to escalate issues appropriately
