Roles & Responsibilities

• Respond to trauma alerts and provide timely trauma and surgical consultations
• Admit, round, and manage inpatients for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery
• Provide operative and OR support alongside surgical teams
• Perform procedural interventions including chest tube insertion, central and arterial line placement, and PICC insertion
• Manage ventilation needs and provide non-invasive support such as BiPAP/CPAP
• Suture minor lacerations and facilitate safe discharges and ER admissions
• Participate in house code/rapid response team activities and support patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• NP with RNFA credential or PA (Advanced Practice Provider) as stated (Locum Advanced Practice Provider)
• Must be a local provider; mileage reimbursement only and providers needing to obtain state license will not be accepted
• Experience in Level II trauma care and acute care surgery coverage preferred
• Comfort working 12-hour shifts including scheduled weekends and nights
• Ability to perform required procedures: chest tube, central/arterial/PICC line placement, basic suturing, and ventilatory support
• Prior locum or hospital-based inpatient experience preferred

Education

• Advanced Practice Provider: NP (with RNFA) or PA

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma care and acute care surgery workflows and priorities
• Trauma alerts, admissions, rounding, and OR support
• Ventilation management and non-invasive ventilatory support (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Procedural competency: chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, PICC placement, minor laceration suturing
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR documentation
• Working effectively within a team where a supervising physician is present in-house
