Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and identify early signs of complications
• Assess incision sites, manage pain control (including PCA pumps), and monitor temperature and stability
• Collaborate with anesthesiology, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate safe handoffs
• Respond rapidly and confidently to emergencies and changes in patient status using critical care skills
• Document care, interventions, and patient progress accurately and in a timely manner
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment (monitors, IV pumps, Pyxis, warming devices) with proficiency
• Support a positive patient and family experience through clear communication and advocacy

Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date (travelers must apply upon offer if not yet licensed)
• Minimum 2+ years experience as a critical care RN (ER/ICU) or equivalent PACU experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
• PALS (AHA) recommended and may be required for specific roles
• Other specialty certifications (NIHSS, TNCC) preferred and may be required for specific positions
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to contract start

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia care (Phase I and Phase II) and perioperative nursing principles
• Advanced knowledge of anesthesiology-related patient management
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills in acute post-op settings
• Experience with critical care interventions and surgical nursing contexts
• Familiarity with Meditech charting and unit technologies
• Experience using PCA pumps, Braun IV pumps, Pyxis systems, Cryocuff, SCDs and warming devices
• Competence with HP and Phillips patient monitors and alarm management
