Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and trays with precision and care
• Perform low-temp sterilization and steam sterilization monitoring, including biological and chemical indicator use
• Assemble sets/trays and prepare case carts for OR and specialty procedures (including ortho/trauma and robotics)
• Reprocess scopes and probes using high-level disinfection (HLD) protocols
• Document sterilization cycles, equipment checks and instrument tracking accurately and timely
• Support specialty equipment processing for cardiac, transplant, ophthalmology, neurology and ortho cases
• Collaborate with perioperative teams and sister facilities to manage a high-volume workload (approx. 200 trays/day)
• Maintain strict infection control and facility guidelines, including mandatory flu vaccination compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Sterile Processing experience (experience with complex ortho & trauma trays preferred)
• Active CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification required at time of submission
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions per facility policy
• Travel/contract experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Familiarity with STERIS steam and low-temp sterilizers, automated washers, and instrument tracking systems
• Ability to work the listed 5x8 schedule (Sunday-Thursday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM) and provide weekend coverage as needed
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for sterilization monitoring and equipment logs

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile Processing and Sterilization best practices
• Low-temp sterilization and sterilization monitoring (biological & chemical indicators)
• Scope/probe reprocessing and high-level disinfection (HLD)
• Case cart preparation and sets/trays assembly for OR and specialty cases
• Experience with STERIS equipment and automated instrument washers
• Familiarity with ortho/trauma instrument systems (Stryker, Synthes, Zimmer, DePuy)
• Robotics and specialty equipment processing (Da Vinci experience preferred)
• Equipment documentation, instrument tracking and processing workflows
• Immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) and proper wrapping/selection of materials
