Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent labor and delivery nursing care following AWHONN standards, including 1:1 care in active labor
• Scrub and circulate for C-sections and support cesarean recovery with confidence and teamwork
• Perform newborn care and support mother-baby bonding consistent with Baby Friendly practices
• Conduct and interpret non-stress tests and telemetry as needed to monitor fetal and maternal well-being
• Chart accurately and efficiently in Epic to keep the care team informed and continuity strong
• Float to Postpartum/Mother-Baby Unit when needed and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Precept and mentor colleagues when asked, sharing practical skills and boosting unit competence
• Respond to emergencies and provide skilled assistance in obstetric procedures (PP D&C, cesarean sections)

Qualifications

• Active RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in labor & delivery required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (BCLS), NRP
• AWHONN Advanced is a hard stop — C-EFM will be accepted in lieu of Advanced AWHONN
• Experience with scrub/circulate for C-section and newborn care highly preferred
• Comfortable floating to Mother/Baby/Postpartum unit and working collaboratively
• Precepting experience preferred but not required — strong caregivers who can support AM or night shifts encouraged

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery Management and fetal monitoring (C-EFM/AWHONN standards)
• Scrub and circulate for C-section procedures
• Newborn care skills and Baby Friendly practices
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Non-stress test administration and interpretation
• Charting in Epic electronic medical record system
• Emergency care and rapid response teamwork
• Ability to set up delivery table and manage obstetric equipment
