Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly stabilize critical patients using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) protocols
• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead ECGs, and manage dysrhythmias with timely interventions
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors and manage blood product transfusions
• Provide ventilator care and collaborate on airway management including intubation support
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines, and perform phlebotomy when indicated
• Collaborate with respiratory services, radiology, social work and other disciplines to coordinate care
• Document accurately (EPIC preferred) and communicate clearly during handoffs and team huddles

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in state of practice (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience required; 5 years preferred
• Experience in General Emergency Department - combined adult/pedi and Non-Trauma ED required
• Comfort managing ventilated patients, cardiac monitoring, IV vasopressors and emergency meds
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Ability to work 3x12 day shifts and cover every other weekend as scheduled

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage (ESI)
• Stabilization of critically ill patients
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, central line care
• Ventilator care, intubation support and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration and phlebotomy
• Use of emergency medications and IV vasopressors
• Isolation precautions and PPE adherence
• Familiarity with STEMI and stroke protocols
