Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate, and disinfect surgical instruments and trays with strict adherence to facility standards
• Perform high-level disinfection and low-temp sterilization, including sterilization monitoring and documentation
• Assemble and prepare complex ortho and trauma sets/trays to support high-acuity surgeries
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (steam and low-temp) and biological/chemical indicators
• Reprocess scopes and probes with attention to manufacturer and facility protocols
• Collaborate closely with OR teams and off-site reprocessing trailers to manage a high-volume caseload (~200 trays/day)
• Troubleshoot sterilization issues, maintain equipment logs, and ensure regulatory compliance
• Precept or teach peers when needed and contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience, including experience with complex ortho & trauma trays
• Active relevant certification required: CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA (HSPA preferred but CBSPD accepted)
• Travel/contract experience required — first-time travelers are not accepted
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Must have active license/certification at time of submission (no pending licenses)
• Experience with low-temp sterilization and sterilization monitoring required
• Preferred: experience with SPM, Da Vinci instruments, robotics, Microsystems, and STERIS equipment

Knowledge & Skills

• Decontamination and Disinfection procedures
• High-Level Disinfection (HLD) and scope/probe reprocessing
• Sterilization processes: steam and low-temp, including IUSS
• Sterilization monitoring: biological and chemical indicators, steam testing
• Case cart and sets/trays assembly for ortho, trauma, neuro/crani and specialty surgeries
• Familiarity with STERIS sterilizers, automated washers, and instrument tracking systems
• Experience supporting Acute Hospital OR and Ambulatory Surgery Center workflows
• Ability to manage high-volume processing and coordinate with off-site reprocessing trailers
