Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; specific days vary/not specified)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents every shift
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) safely and respectfully
Monitor and accurately document vital signs, behaviors, and any changes in condition
Communicate clearly with nursing staff and families to support continuity of care
Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Contribute observations to care plan discussions to help improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

Current GNA certification or completion of an accredited nursing assistant program (state-recognized)
CPR/BLS certification required or must obtain upon hire
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is preferred
Dependable, compassionate, and strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements

Education

High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited nursing assistant program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident dignity practices
Skill in taking and recording vital signs accurately
Familiarity with documentation practices (electronic or paper)
Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
Ability to work independently on nights and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
