Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy safely and confidently to outpatient adults
• Provide IV therapy and manage central lines/ports, including port access and maintenance
• Monitor patients closely for infusion reactions and oncologic emergencies and act promptly
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management and care at home
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate seamless patient care
• Manage medication administration (antiemetics, Neupogen, hormonal therapies, etc.) with attention to safety
• Maintain infection control, cytotoxic spill procedures and safe body fluid handling post-chemotherapy

Qualifications

• BSN required
• Active RN license (California) — current and in good standing
• BLS (AHA) required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 2 years outpatient oncology experience required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Comfort managing a 1:6 patient ratio in an infusion/outpatient setting

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — required

Knowledge & Skills

• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Immunotherapy and biotherapy experience
• IV therapy, infusion pump management and PICC/port care
• Administration and monitoring of blood & blood products
• Recognition and management of oncologic emergencies (anaphylaxis, TLS, extravasation, sepsis)
• Patient/family education, telephone triage and symptom management
• Phlebotomy skills and safe handling/disposal of cytotoxic materials
• Familiarity with external radiation concepts and coordination with radiation teams
