Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage patients and determine priority of care using established emergency guidelines
• Perform focused assessments of chief complaints in a timely manner
• Administer medications safely and document treatments according to policy
• Provide wound care, obtain blood samples, and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Manage patient flow and use strong time management to keep the ED running smoothly
• Maintain supplies, ensure equipment readiness, and support effective handoffs
• Deliver professional nursing care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice as an R.N. in the State of Colorado (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required upon hire
• TNCC required upon hire or must be obtained within 1 year
• ENPC or PALS required within 6 months; ENPC preferred
• At least two years of critical care nursing experience preferred
• Specialty certifications for emergency or critical care areas preferred
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work nights and weekends

• Emergency Nursing and triage best practices
• Patient assessment and focused clinical evaluations
• Medication administration and safe practice
• Wound care and basic procedural skills
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling
• BLS and ACLS protocols
• TNCC, ENPC, PALS knowledge as applicable
• Effective time management and patient-flow coordination
