Shift Type: 10-11 days/month: Friday afternoon through the next full week, ending either Sunday evening or Monday AM; varied/rotating schedule with OR call and ICU/CVICU call

Candidate Pay Rate: $126 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative and post-operative care in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery
• Round on adult and geriatric patients to monitor recovery and coordinate next steps
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to support timely clinical decisions
• Coordinate care with cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, ICU teams, and ancillary services
• Cover OR call and ICU/CVICU call as part of the coverage block
• Write prescriptions and manage medication plans for surgical patients
• Perform vein harvesting when clinically required
• Assist in procedures as needed and participate in multidisciplinary case planning

Qualifications

• Experienced PA or Surgical NP candidates welcomed (site will consider Surgical NP candidates)
• Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery experience preferred; critical care experience will also be considered
• No new graduates — candidates should have prior relevant clinical experience
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record
• Ability to obtain required hospital privileges (credentialing timeframe ~60-90 days; temporary privileges potentially in 45 days)
• Authorization to prescribe medications per state requirements (prescriptive authority/licensure as required by site)
