Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor patient progress and ensure adherence to treatment plans
• Encourage and motivate patients throughout their recovery journey
• Assist patients with therapeutic and self-care activities to boost independence
• Help injured employees improve motor skills with an eye toward return-to-work
• Teach patients, family members, and caregivers practical skills and techniques
• Document patient progress and update records for the occupational therapist
• Maintain treatment rooms, equipment, and a safe therapy environment

Qualifications

• Active Missouri Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license — REQUIRED
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association — REQUIRED
• 2 years of OT/COTA experience — highly preferred
• Long-term care (LTC) or rehab experience — highly preferred
• Resume and COTA skills checklist from within the last year — required
• 0-1 supervisory reference from within the last year — required
• Active Missouri or Compact license documentation and active AHA BLS documentation required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient monitoring and progress tracking
• Delivering therapeutic activities and treatment assistance
• Documentation and charting best practices
• Teaching ADL (activities of daily living) and caregiver training
• Motor skills rehabilitation techniques
• Equipment maintenance and keeping treatment spaces organized
• Experience with long-term care and post-acute rehab populations
• Strong communication and motivational skills for patient encouragement
