Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub as the singular circulator/scrub for cardiothoracic cases, delivering safe, precise surgical support
• Float to Main/General OR as needed and assist across a broad variety of surgical specialties
• Prepare and reprocess flexible endoscopes and specialty instruments with strict attention to protocol
• Maintain aseptic technique and sharps safety to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Support complex cardiovascular cases (CABG, valve procedures, VADs, EVAR, VATS) with expert instrumentation handling
• Respond to call duties professionally, covering weekday calls and scheduled weekend coverage as required
• Document patient care and intraoperative events in EPIC accurately and promptly
• Mentor and assist team members — be a quick learner and help others learn

Qualifications

• Active RN registration (WA state registration accepted; pending license considered)
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience (Cardiothoracic experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with singular scrub responsibilities for cardiothoracic cases
• Comfort floating to general OR and assisting across specialties
• Familiarity with EPIC charting is a plus; strong documentation skills required
• Ability to work weekday calls and one weekend call per month

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiothoracic surgical procedures and instrumentation (CABG, valve, VATS, mediastinoscopy)
• General OR and laparoscopic surgery workflow
• Flexible endoscope reprocessing and scope care
• Aseptic technique, specimen handling and Universal Protocol (time-out)
• Sharps safety and case cart setup
• Ability to support specialty cases (transplant, neuro, ortho, robotics) when needed
• Comfortable working in a Level II trauma center environment
