Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide thorough psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on mental health and substance use recovery
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications responsibly and safely
• Collaborate with counselors, therapists, and clinical staff to coordinate care
• Document clinical encounters clearly and maintain timely, compliant records
• Participate actively in the two-week training to learn site-specific protocols and workflows

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed residency in Psychiatry
• Active, unrestricted California medical license or eligibility to obtain one
• Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry preferred
• Experience working with mental health and substance abuse treatment populations
• DEA registration or ability to obtain one as required for controlled substance prescribing
• Comfort working in structured or secured clinical environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• MD or DO, completed psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in assessment and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders
• Medication management and familiarity with psychotropic agents
• Experience with substance use disorder treatment approaches
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff
• Ability to manage clinical documentation and meet compliance standards
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
