Roles & Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients with cognitive and/or ADL-related physical functioning needs using standardized assessments
• Develop and implement evidence-based plans of care that meet regulatory and clinical standards
• Deliver skilled rehabilitative interventions: ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of assistive devices
• Accurately document treatment minutes and all required clinical information in the electronic health record
• Assess patient progress, evaluate treatment outcomes, and modify services or make referrals as needed
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other care providers
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings — patient care conferences, utilization review, and rehabilitation meetings
• Supervise and support occupational therapy assistants, rehabilitation aides, and students while modeling NBCOT/AOTA standards

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapy license (Missouri state license; compact allowed)
• NBCOT / AOTA practice adherence and understanding of state practice acts and professional ethics
• Minimum 1 year of OT experience required (new grads accepted with Level II fieldwork — Level I observation alone is not sufficient)
• Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation experience required
• Proficiency with electronic documentation / EHR and accurate treatment minutes documentation
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to supervise OTAs, aides, and students and participate in in-services and trainings

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and standardized assessment use
• Plan of care development and treatment outcome evaluation
• ADL retraining, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic activities, and modalities
• Electronic documentation / EHR skills and precise treatment minute recording
• Interdisciplinary communication and participation in utilization review
• Ability to obtain and recommend DME and adaptive equipment
• Supervision and mentorship of students and support staff
