Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to MedSurg/Telemetry and neuro patients, including post-op and stroke care
• Monitor and respond to telemetry and tele-monitor tech findings with tele-awareness and timely interventions
• Titrate drips safely and accurately, including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine per unit protocols
• Manage PCA pumps and other set-rate infusions while ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Participate in hourly rounding, admissions, discharges, and the fast-paced flow of multiple discharges/admissions in a shift
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing aides, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care
• Use EPIC for documentation and communication to maintain accurate, timely patient records
• Demonstrate cultural humility while caring for diverse patient populations including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speakers

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (license to submit required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius eligibility)
• Travel nurse experience preferred but strong local candidates will be considered
• No active license or background issues (candidates with hits are not acceptable)
• Ability to pass unit orientation skills exam with a 90% score (open book) as part of orientation process

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry awareness and experience caring for MedSurg/Tele patients
• Neuro patient care knowledge including stroke and post-neurosurgery monitoring
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
• Safe titration and monitoring of heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips
• Experience with PCA pumps and basic pump troubleshooting
• Familiarity with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
• Strong prioritization, time management, and ability to handle multiple admissions/discharges in a shift
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and culturally sensitive care skills
