Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate care for cardiac patients, including post-surgical and downgraded CVICU patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips to detect arrhythmias and changes in patient condition
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips such as amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, and cardizem
• Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, medications, and recovery plans
• Float to units of same or lower acuity as needed to support the healthcare team

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience with cardiovascular or intermediate care patient population
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Valid driver's license (must be outside 50-mile radius from facility)
• Ability to pass an open-book exam during orientation with a 90% score
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas
• Willingness to float to appropriate units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient in titration of cardiac medications (e.g., amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine)
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for high-acuity cardiac patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Familiarity with common cardiac diagnoses (CVA, CHF, A fib RVR, post-cath lab)
