Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 06-15-2026

End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; one weekend every third weekend (Monday and Friday off that weekend).

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide exceptional physical therapy to acute inpatient populations including post-surgical, neurological, and general medical patients
Cover a variety of units: Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER as needed
Treat approximately 12 patients per day with a focus on functional mobility and discharge planning
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
Contribute to department orientation and learn hospital systems during onboarding

Qualifications

Active California Physical Therapy license required
Current BLS certification from AHA or equivalent
Experience in acute inpatient physical therapy is a must
Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical skills in orthopedics, neurology, and deconditioning
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Proficient in documentation and use of electronic medical records
Adaptability to fast-paced hospital environment
