Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for MedSurg, Telemetry and PCU cardiac patients
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and respond promptly to rhythm changes
• Perform and support care for patients undergoing or recovering from cardiac cath procedures
• Document patient assessments, interventions and progress accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, cath lab teams and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate safe patient care
• Administer medications and titrate cardiac therapies per protocols and provider orders
• Complete required skills checks, specialty exams and competency validations to maintain clinical readiness
• Educate patients and families about cardiac conditions, recovery expectations and discharge plans

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Rhode Island; compact license accepted) and Nursys verification
• Minimum 2+ years recent clinical experience in telemetry/MedSurg with cardiac/PCU exposure
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (must be current and show prior use — not pending completion)
• DCI/BVP certification as required by the unit
• EPIC documentation experience required
• Successful completion of employer-required screenings and testing (drug screen, TB, immunizations, fit test)
• Willingness to complete Prime skills exams and specialty competency assessments

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Experience with cardiac catheterization patient care and post-procedure monitoring
• Proficient EPIC documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Solid med-surgical nursing foundations: assessment, med administration, IV management
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making in acute cardiac scenarios
• Excellent communication and teamwork when floating across units
• Attention to detail for licensing, certification, and compliance documentation
