Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients across L&D and PP units
• Monitor fetal status using FetalLink and advanced fetal monitoring per AWOHNN guidelines
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with OB, neonatology, anesthesia, and ancillary teams for safe high-risk deliveries
• Circulate for C-sections when needed and support the surgical team with sterile technique
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, postpartum care, and newborn needs
• Assist with triage, admissions, and transfers, including safe escalation to higher levels of care
• Serve as a reliable team member during float assignments and support unit staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of California
• Minimum 2 years of obstetric nursing experience required, 3 years preferred per job posting
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification (AWOHNN intermediate or advanced) required
• Prior travel contract experience preferred for travelers
• Comfort circulating in C-sections and assisting with high-risk deliveries
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy
• Ability to work with a diverse, often Spanish speaking patient population

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record
• Hands-on experience with FetalLink fetal heart monitoring systems
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry equipment
• Strong triage and assessment skills for high-risk obstetric patients
• Knowledge of AWOHNN fetal monitoring standards and safe staffing ratios
• Ability to manage time and priorities during busy shift workflows
• Clear communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings
• Basic Spanish communication skills a plus given patient population
