Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents and their families to build trust
- Document care accurately in charts and electronic records in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to contribute to individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — current and active
- Proof of work authorization for Maryland (as applicable)
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience caring for older adults preferred; new grads with strong references welcome
- Current immunizations and any facility-required screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification or equivalent credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs and age-related conditions
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic infection control practices and PPE use
- Comfortable with straightforward documentation and following care plans
- Teamwork, observation, and the ability to escalate clinical concerns appropriately
