Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Perform routine tasks like vital signs, toileting assistance, and safe transfers
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Support resident engagement in daily activities and social interaction
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or state equivalent) — required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen and TB screening as required
- Reliable, compassionate, with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered care
- Comfortable with basic clinical tasks: vital signs, transfers, and ADL assistance
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, patient bedside manner
- Familiarity with infection control practices and HIPAA privacy rules
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, therapists and other team members
