Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition and prioritize care for a mixed med-surg surgical and medical patient population
- Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital protocols
- Monitor telemetry and confirm readings, collaborating with monitor techs to ensure accurate cardiac care
- Provide skilled care for common diagnoses including total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, CHF, CVA and diabetes-related issues
- Float across med-surg units as needed while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care
- Document patient care thoroughly in EPIC and maintain accurate, timely charting
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, respiratory therapists, techs and aides—to coordinate care
- Respond effectively to patient changes and escalate concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit) — North Dakota license or compact eligibility recommended
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, ideally in med-surg or acute care
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and confirming strips
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, float between units, and cover every-other-weekend/holiday requirements
- Willingness to complete a 12-hour orientation and unit-specific float checklist

Education
- BSN not required
- Active RN license required (North Dakota or compact-eligible)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong med-surg clinical assessment and acute care skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Charting and documentation in EPIC
- Experience with CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen therapies
- Comfort managing patients after orthopedic, bariatric and general surgical procedures
- Experience caring for patients with CHF, stroke (CVA), respiratory distress and diabetic issues
- Ability to work within established nurse-to-patient ratios and collaborate with monitor techs and nursing aides
