Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to enhance resident comfort and dignity
• Assist with safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Take and record vital signs accurately, reporting changes to the nursing team
• Observe and document resident behavior, mood, and condition in the chart
• Support meal assistance and feeding needs while encouraging independence
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent required
• State registration or licensure as a nursing assistant where applicable
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Basic CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a resident-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Competence with activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
• Ability to take and accurately document vital signs and observations
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safe patient handling
• Teamwork, time management, and clear resident-centered communication
