Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfer assistance using proper body mechanics
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Create a warm, respectful environment that promotes independence and well being
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure consistent, person-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or state equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or as required by facility
- Ability to pass required background checks, health screenings, and immunizations
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
- Reliable transportation to the facility and a professional, team-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent coursework
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and family members
- Basic documentation and charting skills with attention to detail
- Safe patient handling techniques and infection control awareness
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Empathy, patience, and a positive approach to daily caregiving tasks
