Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field while assisting surgical teams during CV procedures
• Monitor and assess patients throughout the perioperative process to ensure safety
• Document patient care and charting using the Cerner system accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and interdisciplinary team members for optimal outcomes
• Step into other units as needed when CV cases are not available, providing adaptable nursing support

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (CVOR or acute care experience strongly preferred)
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Experience charting in Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Comfortable floating to other units when cardiovascular cases are limited

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable; BSN not required
• Completion of unit-specific modules prior to assignment (approximately 6 hours)
• Orientation: 12 hours

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) workflow and perioperative nursing principles
• Sterile technique and operating room instrumentation familiarity
• Acute care assessment and patient monitoring
• Proficiency with Cerner charting and accurate documentation
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain composure during procedures
