Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and toileting while preserving dignity
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with safe transfers and positioning to prevent falls and maintain comfort
• Maintain clear, respectful communication with residents, families and interdisciplinary staff
• Follow facility policies for infection control, documentation and resident rights

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent — required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience caring for older adults or in a long-term care setting is a plus
• Basic CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization or health screening requirements
• Compassion, patience, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of assisted living and long-term care best practices
• Comfort assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Strong observational skills to notice and report changes
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and family members
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
