Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and toileting while preserving dignity
- Observe and report changes in residents' condition to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with safe transfers and positioning to prevent falls and maintain comfort
- Maintain clear, respectful communication with residents, families and interdisciplinary staff
- Follow facility policies for infection control, documentation and resident rights
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent — required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience caring for older adults or in a long-term care setting is a plus
- Basic CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization or health screening requirements
- Compassion, patience, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of assisted living and long-term care best practices
- Comfort assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Strong observational skills to notice and report changes
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and family members
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
