Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC); self-scheduled with weekend requirement (3 shifts in a 4-week period) and participation in holiday rotation

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit using expert assessment and critical thinking
- Monitor telemetry and recognize dysrhythmias promptly (passing a dysrhythmia exam is required prior to acceptance)
- Perform neuro assessments including cranial nerve checks after targeted training
- Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes and complete SIMs Lab competency validation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — RT, SWAT IV RN, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists — to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage patient assignments within a 1:4 ratio and step into charge responsibilities when needed
- Document thoroughly using Cerner and participate in unit safety practices including infection control and lift/restraint protocols
- Support epilepsy monitoring processes, including 24-48 hour trend EEGs and care of epilepsy specialty rooms
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing (required)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (explicitly required)
- Level 1 trauma experience (MUST HAVE)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required prior to start)
- MedSurg/Telemetry certification and BSN preferred
- Competence with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, Foley catheter insertion and central line care (SIMs Lab pass required)
- Comfort working with neuro diagnoses (epilepsy, TBI, brain tumor, subdural hematoma) and trend EEG processes
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet weekend/holiday coverage requirements
- Travel-specific: own vehicle for travel teams, valid driver's license (50 mile radius rule applies), adherence to appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)
Education
- Registered Nursing license (required)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Neuro patient assessment and cranial nerve evaluation
- Infection control and sterile field maintenance
- Foley catheter insertion and care, central line dressing changes
- EEG monitoring and familiarity with epilepsy-specific care
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting
- Strong critical thinking, situational awareness, and ability to detect subtle patient changes
- Comfort with ventilator/BiPAP familiarity and collaborating with RT
