Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (day shift only). Schedule includes weekend rotation (3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule as noted) and holidays worked per unit rotation.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, high-acuity nursing care for post-cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac patients (IABP, CABG, TAVR, ECMO, CRRT)
- Maintain sterile technique during frequent bedside procedures and perform central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions as required
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and invasive hemodynamic data to guide safe, effective interventions
- Collaborate with intensivists, RT, pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate complex transplant and cardiothoracic care
- Act as a charge/resource nurse when assigned (charge nurse role present; no patient assignment when charging)
- Float to other ICUs and tele units as needed, providing consistent, high-quality care across units
- Complete unit-required SIMs Lab, lifts/restraints/wound care education and pass required competency exams
Qualifications
- Current RN license, eligible to submit (license to submit accepted/willing to wait)
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience (cardiac patient experience required; CVICU preferred)
- Level I trauma experience is mandatory
- BLS and ACLS required prior to start
- Strong IV skills; experience with central lines, Swan-Ganz and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Dysrhythmia competency required and must pass unit dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed)
- Comfort with high-acuity bedside procedures: bronchoscopy assistance, epidurals, ECMO, IABP, CRRT
- Professional appearance standards: natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing with cardiac focus (CTICU/CVICU)
- Telemetry rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Invasive hemodynamic monitoring and Swan-Ganz familiarity
- Central line care and sterile field maintenance
- Foley catheter insertion and urinary management
- Experience with Cerner charting system and Phillips telemetry
- High-acuity post-op cardiac care including ECMO, IABP, CRRT and transplant patients
- Strong IV insertion/management and bedside procedural competency
