Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming to preserve dignity and independence
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support during daily routines
- Follow care plans and document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices
- Assist with meal setup and feeding support when needed, ensuring resident comfort
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with the care team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to pass required background and health screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of a state-approved GNA/NA training program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care basics
- Ability to take and record basic observations and follow care plans
- Familiarity with infection prevention, safe resident handling, and PPE usage
- Good interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents and families
- Detail-oriented documentation and time-management skills
