Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts — Days: 05:45 AM - 05:45 PM; Nights: 05:45 PM - 05:45 AM (12-hr shifts). Schedule includes every-other-weekend rotation and holiday rotation; self-scheduling with manager finalization; schedules posted 4 weeks in advance.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity cardiovascular surgical ICU bedside care for pre- and fresh postop CABG, IABP, TAVR, CRRT, Swan monitoring and other critical cardiac cases
- Perform thorough bedside report and handoffs to maintain continuity and patient safety
- Interpret telemetry and EKG strips accurately and act promptly on changes in rhythm
- Manage mechanical ventilation and titrate critical drips per protocol and physician orders
- Collaborate with hospitalists/intensivists, RT, and pharmacy for 24/7 acute care delivery
- Float to other Sacramento facilities as needed while maintaining high standards of care
- Serve as break relief when assigned as Charge Nurse and support unit flow and staffing decisions
Qualifications
- Active RN license in state of practice (required)
- Minimum 2 full years of CVICU experience (required)
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment to be considered
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications and NIHSS certification (required)
- Demonstrated competency with mechanical ventilation, EKG interpretation, CRRT and hemodynamic monitoring (Swan, IABP, TAVR, CABG recovery)
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience and ability to function autonomously in a very high-acuity environment
- Willingness to comply with employer restrictions (no direct employment at CommonSpirit facilities within past year) and to complete the DYS exam through UNA within 24-48 hours prior to contract signing (pass required — two attempts allowed)

- Active RN license (required)
- BSN not required for this role
Knowledge & Skills
- High-acuity cardiovascular surgical ICU care and post-op CABG pathways
- Advanced cardiac monitoring, telemetry and EKG strip interpretation
- Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator weaning goals
- CRRT operation familiarity and critical drip management
- Experience with IABP, Empella/Impella devices and TAVR care (travelers will not take LVAD patients)
- Bedside report and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Ability to float among facilities and adapt to differing unit workflows
