Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth surgical flow
- Perform patient assessments and prepare patients for surgery with compassion and attention to detail
- Anticipate surgical team needs by managing instruments, supplies, and sterile technique
- Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient status promptly
- Adhere to infection control standards and institutional policies to protect patients and staff
- Mentor and support unit colleagues, contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- RFC or NFC credential as indicated in the job title
- Operating Room experience and familiarity with perioperative procedures
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications encouraged
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Professional attitude, reliability, and commitment to patient-centered care
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR aseptic procedures
- Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and specialty procedures
- Ability to anticipate needs and prioritize in high-acuity situations
- Proficient in perioperative documentation and electronic medical records
- Teamwork-oriented mindset and strong clinical judgment
