Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth surgical flow
• Perform patient assessments and prepare patients for surgery with compassion and attention to detail
• Anticipate surgical team needs by managing instruments, supplies, and sterile technique
• Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient status promptly
• Adhere to infection control standards and institutional policies to protect patients and staff
• Mentor and support unit colleagues, contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• RFC or NFC credential as indicated in the job title
• Operating Room experience and familiarity with perioperative procedures
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications encouraged
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Professional attitude, reliability, and commitment to patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR aseptic procedures
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and specialty procedures
• Ability to anticipate needs and prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Proficient in perioperative documentation and electronic medical records
• Teamwork-oriented mindset and strong clinical judgment
