Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients on a med-surg oncology unit
- Administer medications and treatments safely, following hospital policies and patient-specific orders
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
- Perform patient assessments, triage changes in condition, and escalate as appropriate
- Support procedures commonly done on the unit (occasional pelvic exams, echo support, thoracentesis assistance) with competence and calm
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by being a team player and helping onboard travelers and new staff
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state licensure appropriate for assignment) — required
- BLS certification — required
- CNA license listed as a unit requirement/consideration where applicable
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (med-surg or oncology preferred)
- Chemo certification preferred — candidates with chemo training will be prioritized
- Comfort using Cerner EMR and standard unit equipment
- Ability to work rotating nights and weekend coverage as part of the schedule
Education
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN credentialing preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong oncology and med-surg clinical knowledge
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
- Ability to manage patient ratios typical to the unit (1:4 or 1:5)
- Skilled in medication administration and monitoring for oncology patients
- Good assessment, critical thinking, and escalation skills
- Teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new unit workflows
