Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality progressive care/PCU nursing for post-operative and trauma patients
- Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect changes quickly
- Administer and manage IV medications, including drips listed by the unit
- Perform thorough patient assessments and Q4 patient reassessments
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care
- Document care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate changes in condition
- Respond to emergencies using ACLS and BLS protocols and apply NIH Stroke Scale when indicated
- Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge plans, and condition management
Qualifications
- Active RN license; eligibility to work in Texas or compact licensure recommended
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience (PCU/Telemetry/step-down experience preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIH Stroke Scale competency required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfort with telemetry monitoring and IV medication management
- Meditech experience preferred
- Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and step-down patient care
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition
- IV medication management and drip titration
- Post-operative nursing and surgical patient care
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale application
- Experience with Meditech or similar EMR systems
- Teamwork, adaptability to changing environments, and clear communication
- Ability to manage patient ratios typical for a 25-bed unit (1:4, 1:5 stepdown)
