Shift Type: Rotating nights, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; includes every other weekend (night shift)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality post-operative orthopedic nursing care to adult patients
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture/staple removal with attention to detail
- Manage Foley catheters and NG tube care safely and per protocol
- Maintain and troubleshoot Wound Vac systems and assist with device removal
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize recovery
- Educate patients and families about mobility, wound care, and discharge planning
- Support unit workflow as a team player and adapt to the fast-paced orthopedic environment
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with active NC RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (hospital/acute care experience strongly preferred)
- Orthopedic nursing experience preferred
- Familiarity with Cerner or similar EMR systems preferred
- Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend schedule
Education
- Active RN license in North Carolina (ADN or BSN) — program completion consistent with RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Orthopedic nursing principles and post-operative care
- Wound care techniques and Wound Vac maintenance
- Foley catheter and NG tube management
- Dressing changes and suture/staple removal
- Electronic medical record documentation (Cerner)
- Patient safety, mobility assistance, and use of lift/transfer equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital unit
