Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; rotating nights with every other weekend required
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients, treating each person like family
- Perform post-operative care including dressing changes, suture/staple removal, wound vac maintenance and removal
- Manage tubes and lines such as Foley catheters and NG tubes with strict attention to safety and infection control
- Use safe patient handling equipment (lifts, Sara Stedy, Maxi Move) to move and ambulate patients confidently
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team — charge RNs, PCTs, physical therapy and physicians — to optimize recovery
- Educate patients and families about post-op care, mobility, and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Current NC RN licensure (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years' RN experience (acute care preferred)
- Orthopedic surgery or med-surg experience preferred
- Comfortable using Cerner EMR and familiar with common ortho equipment and aids
- Able to work rotating night schedule and every other weekend
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong post-operative and wound care skills, including wound vac maintenance
- Experience with Foley catheters, NG tubes and basic post-op procedures
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR for accurate charting and handoffs
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques with lifts and gait equipment
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced unit
- Sound clinical judgment and patient education skills
