Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care, treatment and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and emphysema
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation and advanced ventilator modes to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapy accordingly
- Deliver non-invasive support including CPAP, BiPAP and nebulizer therapies
- Perform chest physiotherapy (CPT) and other airway clearance techniques as indicated
- Document assessments, treatments and patient responses accurately in the EMR (Meditech)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Maintain equipment competence (Servo I, Hamilton, V60, Astral) and ensure safe operation and infection control
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- BLS, ACLS and NRP required
- Minimum 2 years current acute care hospital RRT experience
- Experience with mechanical ventilation and ABG interpretation
- Preferred: Trauma experience
- Preferred: Previous Meditech EMR experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in mechanical ventilation management and ventilator modes
- Strong ABG interpretation and clinical decision-making
- Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizers and CPT procedures
- Familiarity with ventilator models: Servo I, Hamilton, V60, Astral
- Comfortable using Meditech or similar EMR for documentation
- Team player with critical thinking and strong communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
